It has been a while since I've posted. It is very difficult to sit down and write, that is why I've been trying to find a way to post entries and photos from my phone. It isn't quite there yet so the entries remain scarce. I have been busy though. Father's Day, 4th of July, falling down the stairs, MRI, cabin, etc. Pictures are up for all but Father's Day, just haven't gotten to it yet. Updated the site software and modules today and it all still works (YAY!) and changed the way my back yard weather is displayed. Tomorrow we go to the Twins game for Grace's first Twins game!!! Grace Channels Her Ancestors!

Today Grace was fishing with Grandpa Bill (after making him come back with the boat so she could go too) and was her usual chatterbox self. "Fishy, fishy, bite my hook..." was what she would say while waiting for a fish. With only a worm she pulled in a 3 lb. northern after saying "Grandpa, I think I'm going to need a little help with this one!". All together she caught 5 fish but the northern and a 1 lb. crappy were the only ones worth keeping. I hope all of her Randash relatives realize that these fish were caught on West Silent Lake and that Great-Grandpa Elmer HAD to be helping her out!

Grace & the Dentist

Look in the Gallery and you'll find a picture of what's missing in Grace's smile. Seems that she has a tooth that is eager to come in even before the baby tooth has vacated it's space. This led to a trip to the dentist with Dad. Dad has a tendency to be the parent present when there might be pain involved like when Grace went to the ER after biting through her lip or when she has to get a shot. Last Friday at 12:20pm we arrived at the dentist's office in Eden Prairie apparently moments after the power went out. They still saw her as the exam room has a big window and they were still willing to pull the tooth but there would be no "happy" gas. Grace said no. No "happy" gas, no pully tooth. We left, only to have Mom call the dentist back and try to get us in as soon as the power came back on. At 3:30pm we returned and a little while later she had the most endearing gap in her smile. There was "happy" gas involved but for some reason it was more like "tingly" gas as the only thing it did was to make her fingers a little tingly. Next time we'll have to figure out another way to ease her anxiety about stuff she hasn't done yet.

Anticipation

Grace is so excited she can hardly stand it. She waits all winter, ever since last Labor Day really, to go back to the cabin and this weekend is the time to go back. There's a lot of work to do this weekend, putting the docks in, cleaning, organizing, generally getting ready. The idea is to get as many family members there as possible to make it easier to get it all done. Some years it doesn't work out that way but this year I think we'll have a large crew.

My Little Girl Is So Grown Up

Last week Grace announced to us that she and Taylor (friend from Ladybug and school) were meeting at the mall on Saturday and they were going to get their ears pierced together. A day or so later Taylor's mom called the house to see if we'd heard of the plan and a time was set to meet. I worked all weekend on a datacenter migration at Dow Jones so I couldn't be there but Grace did it! Heather forgot to take pictures although I'm not sure she would have been able to anyway since she was holding Grace's waist. They did both ears at the same time while she held onto Fozzie and though she cried a little she was VERY proud of herself. When I saw her she was still walking tall and beaming. Heather said to her that she wished Daddy had been there to see it but Grace said she was kind of glad I wasn't there. She didn't want me to see her cry. Not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand I want her to be a strong woman (someday!) but on the other I think it's really important that she be able to be herself. I'll have to remember that one. Any who, she is doing a great job cleaning them and taking good care of them.
